Almost every specification that decides a purchase is already published by the company that made the product — usually in a support document rather than on the product page. Battery life per mode, weight to the gram, codec support, bin capacity, motor power, midsole drop. The work is not obtaining those numbers. The work is putting them next to each other, saying which one decides the choice, and being honest about where the published figure stops telling you anything useful.
Where the numbers come from
Every product page lists its sources: the document, the link, and the date we last checked it. If a figure has no source, it does not go on the page — that is not a policy we ask you to trust, it is a check that runs before this site can be published at all, and a product without at least one source fails the build.
Where a manufacturer publishes a figure under test conditions that flatter it, we say so next to the number rather than quietly correcting it. A quoted battery life is a quoted battery life.
What we do not do
We do not measure anything ourselves. There is no lab, no rig and no test protocol behind these pages, and you should treat any claim to the contrary as a mistake worth reporting. For the same reason we do not publish scores: a number out of ten implies a measurement, and we have not made one.
What you get instead of a score is the reasoning — which specification matters most in this category, what it predicts, and which product wins on it. That is auditable in a way a score never is.
Price
We do not publish prices yet, because we have no verified source for them. It would be easy to put a plausible number on a page and most of the market does exactly that. When we do have a source, every price will carry the moment it was observed, and anything older than a fortnight will simply not be shown.
What would change a page
A revised specification, a generational change, a firmware update that alters behaviour, or a reader pointing out that we have something wrong. Every page carries the date it was last reviewed. If that date is more than six months old, treat the page accordingly.
Corrections take priority over new work. If a number here is wrong, we would rather hear it from you than leave it standing.
What never changes a page
Commission. No store or brand can buy a position, a mention or a word of the wording, and none has been offered one. If that ever stops being true, this page will say so first.
