Everything here is published by one of two desks: the buying desk, which decides what goes into a comparison and argues the pick, and the specification desk, which collects the figures and records where each one came from. They are desks, not people, and they are labelled that way on purpose — we would rather show you an honest job title than invent a reviewer with a biography.
We publish no scores at all. A number out of ten implies a measurement, and this site does not measure products — it compares what the manufacturers publish. How we compare sets out exactly where that line runs.
Corrections
When we get something wrong we fix it in place, add a dated note at the foot of the article, and leave the original claim visible in that note. We do not quietly edit and move on.
Measurement versus opinion
A figure on this site is either published by the manufacturer, in which case the source and the date we checked it are on the page, or it is arithmetic on top of such figures. Anything that is neither — how a machine behaves early in the morning, whether a shoe suits your gait — is judgement, and it is written so that you can tell.
What you will not find here is a number without a provenance. That is not a promise about our diligence; it is a check that runs before the site can be published, and it fails the build.
Sources and AI
Product photography, when we show it, comes from the merchant feed unmodified — we do not generate images of real products, because a generated photograph of a thing you are about to buy misrepresents it.
The still lifes and the desk portraits on this site are generated imagery. They depict no real person and no real product, and they are used as illustration only. We do not publish invented testimonials, invented reviews, invented experts or a synthetic face presented as a named reviewer.
